Sunday morning we found out we’ll be going on our first of two trips to Russia 14 – 20 January. It will be a whirlwind trip, but the primary goal is for us to meet Tatiana. Most of our time will be en route to somewhere. It looks like a 16 hour trip to Moscow, an overnight train ride to Voronezh, followed by a five hour each way car ride to the orphanage where we’ll get to spend a couple hours with her. We’ll get to do the ten hour round trip in a Russian car over Russian country roads in the middle of January twice to visit her for a couple hours each day. After a little more than two days in Voronezh, we’ll turn around, take another overnight train back to Moscow, and catch a flight back to the USA.
Among many other emotions, we’re excited, scared, hopeful, and thankful that after over two years, we’re finally to this stage in the process.
It's funny how long we waited and now how rushed we feel. Getting our visa's, packing and making sure Luke is taken care of while we are gone seems a little much right now, but in a week or so we should have everything together.
Being that the temperture hangs around -something degrees, I feel the need to bring everything that has any warmth to it. I'm still thinking on this one! We are told to pack light........

Finally it's here!
I thought this would be a great way to stay in touch with everyone during our journey of adoption. It has already been a long road, but we have seen God work in our lives as we have experience the roller coaster of emotions during this wait time. God has a sense of humor I know because I have been forced to not have control (I know He is but still want to have it), wait for a long time (patience is not my best temperament), and deal with mounds of paper work ( I love email what does that tell you). But here we are today with a referral from Voronezh, Russia, and waiting to hear of travel dates. We will go two times to Russia. The first trip is to meet our child, and the second trip is to go through lots of court hearings and other things. We will be in country much longer the second trip than the first one. I have been sitting on the fence post about starting a blog before now but it is a great way to share my thoughts, dreams and feelings concerning our adoption, so feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts too!
